Following approval by the PONY Baseball Rules Committee and the International Board of Directors, PONY Baseball will be following a pitch count instead of an innings limit, as recommended by MLB Pitch Smart Guidelines, beginning in 2018.

FOAL 4U™, SHETLAND 6U™:  Players are not permitted to pitch.

PINTO 8U™, MUSTANG 10U™, BRONCO 12U™, PONY 14U™, COLT 16U™, PALOMINO 19U™ and THOROBRED 23U™ must use the Pitch Smart chart printed below.

NOTE: The pitcher will only be required to observe the calendar day(s) of rest for the threshold he/she reached during the start of that at-bat, provided that the pitcher is removed before delivering a pitch to the next batter.

When pitching in more than one game on the same calendar day, pitchers may pitch any combination of pitches in those games provided they do not exceed the maximum number of pitches for that calendar day.

Pitchers reaching their maximum number of pitches in a day while pitching to a batter, may finish pitching to that batter before being removed.

All pitchers become eligible at each level of tournament play, provided they have the rest as provided by the above pitch chart.  Rest is calculated as per calendar day.

Electronic scoring devices are recommended at all levels of Tournament Play in order to ensure accurate pitch count.
