Walnut PONY Baseball will celebrate its fifth anniversary of the Mustang-9 World Series in 2018 at Creekside Park in Walnut, California. In 2017, West Zone Champion Los Alamitos, California took home its first Mustang-9 World Series title, defeating Navajoa, Sonora, Mexico 12-6 in the championship game. A team from California has won each of the last four Mustang-9 World Series titles.

The Mustang World Series returns to Youngsville, Louisiana for the fifth-consecutive year in 2018, as the best 10U PONY teams from around the world will look to take home a world championship in the event’s 24th year. In 2017, West Zone Champion Santa Clarita (Wm. S. Hart), California claimed its record-tying fifth Mustang World Series title. The California crew went undefeated throughout the tournament, picking up two hard fought wins over North Zone Champion Chicago (AFCA), Illinois, before 10-running Mexico Zone Champion Tijuana, Baja California 11-1 in the title bout.

Chesterfield Baseball Clubs will celebrate its 10th anniversary of the Bronco-11 World Series in 2018 at Harry G. Daniel Park at Ironbridge in Chesterfield, Virginia. In 2017, despite heavy rainfall that wiped out a day of play, Chicago (AFCA), Illinois thrilled the crowd in Chesterfield en route to the state of Illinois’ and the PONY North Zone’s first Bronco-11 World Series title. In a sensational championship game against West Zone Champion and 2016 Mustang World Series Champion Simi Valley, California, Chicago held off a three-run, bottom of the seventh inning rally by Simi Valley to win it all 11-10.

A tournament that dates back to 1961, the Bronco World Series, returns to Los Alamitos, California for its sixth-consecutive year in 2018. Fans at Los Alamitos Youth Baseball’s complex witnessed high octane offense in 2017, as the two finalists, Mexico Zone Champion Tijuana, Baja California and Caribbean Zone Champion Levittown, Puerto Rico re-wrote the record books. Levittown had just a bit more gas in the tank in the championship game, as Puerto Rico defeated Mexico 16-6 to win the title. It was Levittown’s fifth and Puerto Rico’s record-setting 12th Bronco World Series title in history.

The Pony-13 World Series celebrates its 15th-year anniversary in 2018 and the fifth-consecutive year that the event has been held in Whittier. In 2017, Asia-Pacific Zone Champion Seoul, Korea won its nation’s and the PONY Asia-Pacific Zone’s first Pony-13 World Series title, behind solid pitching and timely hitting. In the championship game, against East Zone Champion Johnstown, Pennsylvania, who came into the contest with a 3-0 record and had outscored its opponents 39-6, Seoul’s five-man pitching staff allowed just four earned runs, while stranding eight base runners and striking out eight in a 9-4 victory.

PONY Baseball’s first and longest-running World Series event, the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pony World Series, will be held for the 66th time, 35th-consecutive year in Washington, Pennsylvania, in 2018 at historic Lew Hays Pony Field. The 2017 championship game was one to remember. Trailing 1-0 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, West Zone Champion Covina, California not only tied it to force extra innings, but came back to win 3-1 in eight innings over Asia-Pacific Zone Champion Seoul, Korea. Covina’s James Jimenez was the hero, thanks to his two-run, eventual game-winning homerun in the top of the eighth. Jimenez also pitched seven innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits and a walk, while striking out nine.

The Colt World Series has a new home in 2018. Rent One Park, home of the Southern Illinois Miners Frontier League baseball team in Marion, Illinois, will host the 65th edition of the Colt World Series. History was made at the 2017 Colt World Series in Lafayette, Indiana, as the Netherlands became the first PONY European Zone team to ever win a PONY Baseball World Series event. In the championship game, the Netherlands shut out West Zone Champion Upland, California 6-0. Dutch starting Luuk Ter Beek stole the show at the tournament, recording two wins in 11.1 innings pitched. Ter Beek didn’t allow a run and gave up just four hits and hit a batter, while striking out seven.

The site of the 2018 Palomino World Series is yet to be determined.
