Germain Castillo came in to pinch hit for Sanchez, and Castillo smacked a double with one out. Following a groundout, Capistran connected on a line drive through the left side, and Castillo sprinted home to score his team's second run.

Brownsville pinch ran David Cruz for Garza, and his speed proved to be of great value for his team, as he scored on a wild pitch during Heriberto Emanuel Garza's at-bat to put his team ahead.

Sanchez relieved Ramos with one out in the bottom of the sixth, and he held the Dutch offense scoreless to close out the game and advance his team onward.

Capistran, Eduardo Garza and Darren Ramirez all recorded multi-hit games for Brownsville.

GM #15 Southern Illinois 7  Greensboro, North Carolina 5

Area Host Champion Southern Illinois wasted absolutely no time getting runs on the board in its 7-5 victory over East Zone Champion Greensboro, North Carolina in an elimination GM #15 Monday night. Nic Hunter, Southern Illinois’ five-hole hitter drove in Austin Jerger with an RBI single in the first with two outs. That would be all the team would score in the first, but after a quick one-two-three inning from Southern Illinois’ starter Bruce White, the Illini went right back to work putting up runs.

The start of the second inning consisted of back-to-back walks and a hit batsman to quickly load the bases. With Javy Beal up to bat, he hi into a fielder’s choice to score Southern Illinois’ second run. Another passed ball and wild pitch doubled Southern Illinois’ lead to 4-0.

At this point, things started to unravel quickly for Greensboro, who was already on its third different pitcher of the game in the second inning. Back-to-back singles extended Southern Illinois’ lead to 6-0. Once it looked like Greensboro was finally going to get out of the inning, an error by its shortstop gave Southern Illinois a 7-0 lead.

Greensboro never backed down though. The North Carolinians slowly started to claw their way back into the game. In the bottom of the second inning, Greensboro gained one back on a sacrifice fly by Justin Brady to score  Isaiah Hairston. An inning later, they took another run back with back-to-back singles and an error to make the score 7-2 Southern Illinois. In the bottom of fourth, they put yet another run up on the board with an RBI single by Bryson Hamlet.

While holding Southern Illinois scoreless since the second inning. Greensboro put up a two-spot in the fifth thanks to an RBI triple by Hairston and a sac fly by Brady. This made their deficit just two with the score 7-5 in favor of Southern Illinois. However, that wasn’t enough for Greensboro. As the team was unable to score for the next two innings and lost the ballgame to end their tournament run.

Southern Illinois is set for a rematch against Seoul, Korea today at 12:30 p.m. CT/US. The loss eliminated the East Zone Champions.
